Katie Lindquist
Professional Cross-Country Ski Coach
Katie is an accomplished cross-country ski coach with over 30 years of experience in developing athletes of all abilities and fostering a love for the sport at all levels. With a deep passion for skiing and a commitment to excellence, Katie has built a reputation for combining technical expertise with motivational leadership to help athletes achieve their full potential.
Having competed at an elite level in the American Birkebeiner, Masters World Championships and dozens of marathon and ultra marathon ski events Katie brings a wealth of knowledge and firsthand experience to coaching. In fact, Katie has shared her passion for skiing with her Spitz dog, Star, ski-joring and back-country skiing together weekly in the winter. Her coaching philosophy emphasizes a holistic approach to training, focusing on technique, endurance, and mental resilience, while also prioritizing athlete well-being and personal growth.
In addition to guiding individual athletes, Katie has successfully led teams to numerous victories and podium finishes at regional and national championships. As head coach for the Steamboat Springs High School Nordic team, Katie’s depth spans into youth as a leader, facilitator, event planner and developer of innovative training programs. Strategic insights have been instrumental in enhancing performance and pushing the boundaries of what athletes of all ages can achieve.
Outside of coaching, Katie is dedicated to promoting cross-country skiing, cycling, hiking and general well being through community outreach, clinics, and youth programs. She is known for her endless enthusiasm and dedication to growing the sport and inspiring the current and next generation of skiers.
Katie holds several certifications in health and fitness, coaching and teaching, including USA cycling Elite level coach, Stages indoor cycling coach, PSIA nordic and alpine certifications and most relevant, the school of experience. Katie’s most relevant skill is curiosity and kinesiology. She dissects ways to state, coach and urge students to get the most from their bodies and fitness to improve skills, gain technique and most importantly have enough energy to ski another kilometer! Her humor and patience creates an environment where athletes can thrive, excel, and develop a lifelong passion for cross-country skiing.
